HVAC Fabric Air Distribution

Fabric air distribution ducts are a
cost effective alternate
to traditional metal duct for the transfer and/or distribution of air to all areas of your shop. FlowCon air diffusers with large Powerflow air jets can be used for a wide variety of applications. They are very efficient at entrapping and mixing air. The long throw of the air jets can effectively propel heated air to cooler floor areas. The mass and velocity of the jets can cause air circulation 10'-40' beyond the diffuser.
With a FlowCon Powerflow diffuser connected to a makeup air unit, the incoming air can be dispersed evenly over a large manufacturing area. To save energy, unheated air can be directed upward to mix with warm ceiling air in winter and then redirected downward to ventilate work areas in summer. A fan and FlowCon Powerflow diffusers can simply be used to blow warm ceiling air downward to mix with cooler floor air.
Energy savings can be substantial. In hot work environments, simple air circulation can improve productivity. Large POWERFLOW air jets can be strategically positioned along a diffuser to ventilate individual work stations. PowerFlow fabric air ducts deliver evaporative cooled air downward through large ports. PowerFlow air jets range from 1" to 6" in diameter, and are fabricated from either polyethylene or polyester flame retardant fabric.

Application Recommendations
Environmental Benefits
-Improved air quality for a more healthy indoor work area.
-Energy savings achieved through more effective air distribution throughout an environment.
-Smaller carbon footprint because less greenhouse gas emissions are generated.
-
Efficient Shipping
- Less packing and the boxes and plastic that are used can be recycled.
- Less energy use and shipping costs used to ship a lighter product
-The product is ready to use out of the box which helps to reduce material use. A secondary benefit of this is less energy is used during the installation process due to less tools/energy consumed and less time spent to install the end product.
Economic Benefits
-Data shows that LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified buildings consume, on average, 30% less energy. (HVACR BUSINESS Jan.2008). Also, this is a great selling point for new occupants of a structure as well as for resale.
-Less cost to manufacture than sheet metal which will enhance the asset value and profit margin.
-Lower installation costs due to the ease of the installation. You use less man power, and hours spent to complete the install.
-Lower maintenance required. You are able to launder the system rather than have to have someone come in and clean it out.
-Ducts are available in different colors so they can be aesthetically pleasing without having someone take time to paint the system and maintain the color.
-Higher productivity can be attributed to a better looking and more comfortable work area.
-Possible tax breaks. The U.S. government has instituted the Energy Policy Act of 2005 which offers tax breaks to businesses for building energy-efficient buildings or making energy improvements to existing structures.
Social Benefits
-Overall air quality is improved through efficient air distribution.
-Noticeable noise reduction.
-Increased productivity. A recent study by the Institute for Market Transformation to Sustainability showed that “people working in green buildings are 5% to 16% more productive than those in conventional buildings.”
-Pride. Creating a green system gives a feeling that we may all be doing, or supporting, a cause that can only be beneficial in the long run to ourselves and others.
